Supporting the superannuation system through good governance

The Gateway Network Governance Body Ltd (GNGB) is an industry owned, not-for-profit organisation, whose main purpose is to manage the integrity of the Superannuation Transaction Network.

The Superannuation Transaction Network (STN) is a network developed to assist employers and superannuation funds meet their obligations under the mandatory Data and Payments Standards. These standards arose from the implementation of the SuperStream regulatory program.

The GNGB was established in 2016 by the superannuation industry, gateways and software providers. It manages the integrity, security and availability of the STN through a Memorandum of Understanding made with the superannuation industry’s Gateway Operators.

As a self-regulatory body, the GNGB has many roles, including:

  • Monitoring compliance with the Data and Payments Standards
  • Engaging with key stakeholders in Government and industry
  • Undertaking initiatives and steps to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the STN
  • Managing new entrants to the network
