GNGB Security Committee Established

By admin on February 6, 2019 in Stakeholder updates

The Gateway Network Governance Body (GNGB) is pleased to announce that as part of its commitment to ensuring the integrity of the Superannuation Transaction Network (STN), it has established a Security Committee.  The Committee is focused on advising the GNGB Board on information and cyber-security matters affecting the network and provides a focal point for data security and cyber activities impacting the STN.

The STN is the electronic network of data gateways that connects businesses, superannuation funds and the ATO for the purposes of making superannuation contributions and rollovers.  The GNGB provides governance for the STN and the Gateway Operators that participate in that network.

Why establish a Committee?

The GNGB is acutely aware of the critical importance of information and cyber security in the network and has already done considerable work with the ATO and the Gateway Operators in establishing standards and processes to ensure high levels of data and systems protection.  In establishing the Committee, we are seeking to further demonstrate our commitment, and in the ever-changing environment of managing security matters, to further support the Gateway Operator community and the industry.

Members

The founding members of the Committee are Ian Gibson from SuperChoice (Chair), Hans van Daatselaar from the Affiliation of Superannuation Practitioners, Paul Verkuylen from Qvalent and Sarah O’Brien from the GNGB.  We welcome expressions of interest from anyone who is interested in contributing to the Security Committee, please contact Sarah O’Brien through gngb.com.au.
